In September of 2001, Tomihiro
Hoshino Art Exhibition debuted in Torrance, California. This
collection of 80 watercolor paintings and 20 pen sketches
filled the gallery hall with 5,218 viewers including 377 of
event volunteers.
Based on the principle of fostering impressions
and joy through the devoted spirit expressed in Mr. Hoshino
life work we saw how his pieces touched the hearts of the
Japanese-American viewers, and furthermore, similarly touched
the hearts of the general American public. Groups from the
government, business, media, a number of organizations, and
many other individuals expressed encouraging and generous
support. The successful outcome of this large scales event
is due to the culmination of goodwill and effort from many,
such as the great endeavors by Mr. Kiyoshi Oshima, Director
of Friends of Tomihiro Museum and in cooperation with the
San Francisco Exhibit Committee.
We express our sincere respect and appreciation
to Mr. & Mrs. Hoshino for their kindness in sharing the
original prints, and to all the individuals involved in helping
to create this memorable Los Angeles exhibit. In closing,
please note that proceeds from this exhibit have been donated
to four organizations with ties to community welfare and to
funding for the disabled.
